Tips for the Best Back-to-School Pool Party

Summer is winding down, which means that the kids will be heading back to school soon. If you want to send them back to the books with a big splash (pun intended), then you should host a back-to-school pool party. It will be a great summer memory for your kids, and a fun way for them to spend one last hot day with their friends before they’re cooped up in the classroom again. So here are a few helpful tips to help you host the best pool party of the summer.

Have Toys and Games

As much as kids love to just splash and swim, make sure you have some pool games planned as well. This may be something as simple as Marco Polo, or something more complex like water polo or volleyball. Of course, some games will require specific equipment, so make sure you have it on hand if you are planning for something like that.

If you don’t plan specific games, at least make sure you have some pool toys available. This may include inflatables, pool noodles, diving rings, and other things that people can play with in the water. The exact toys you want will depend on the ages of the children that are attending, so keep that in mind.

Light, Refreshing Snacks

Of course, kids love cookies, cakes, and other heavy snacks. But when they’re outside in the sun and water, you want to give them something that is light and refreshing–not something that will make them feel sick while they’re swimming. Here are a few snacks you can consider:

·         Fresh fruit

·         Veggie platter

·         Crackers

·         String cheese

And of course, you need to make sure that you have hydrating drinks available. Try to steer away from sodas, and stick to water, lemonade, and other drinks that will keep the kids hydrated while they play. This way, they can feel better throughout the day and play longer.

Other Parents

Don’t try to be the only adult at this pool party, especially if it’s a party for younger kids. Swimming pools in Fayetteville offer a lot of opportunities for kids to get injured or to endanger themselves. You need several pairs of eyes in order to ensure that all of the kids in attendance stay safe. So ask a couple of the other parents to stay at the party and help supervise, rather than just dropping off their kids and leaving. This will not only make your job easier, but it will make the party better because you can do things like refilling the snack trays without worrying about leaving the kids unattended.

Better yet, ask a parent to help you plan the pool party from the very beginning. This will allow you to divide the responsibilities for things like refreshments and toys, so you don’t have so much to stress about.

If you follow these tips and stick to basic safety whenever you’re around swimming pools with kids, you should be able to have a safe, fun pool party. Your kids and all of their friends will head back to school with a fun memory of playing in the pool together.
